Deputy Compliance Officer Onsite, Full Time

About the Role

As Deputy Compliance Officer, you will serve as the right hand to our Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), helping design, implement, and enforce compliance programs that keep Athena Bitcoin ahead of regulatory requirements. This pivotal leadership role ensures our Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know-Your-Customer (KYC), and financial crime prevention efforts remain best-in-class.

Key Responsibilities

Support the CCO in overseeing the enterprise-wide compliance program (AML, KYC, sanctions, fraud).
Manage day-to-day compliance operations: case reviews, SARs, transaction monitoring, and customer due diligence.
Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training tailored to crypto and Bitcoin ATM operations.
Serve as liaison with regulators, auditors, and banking partners when delegated.
Lead, mentor, and support compliance analysts to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Monitor regulatory changes (FinCEN, SEC, OFAC, state and LATAM regulators) and assess their business impact.
Assist in preparing board-level compliance reports and risk assessments.
Step in as acting CCO when required.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
Minimum 5 years’ experience in compliance, legal, or risk roles within financial services, fintech, or crypto.
Deep understanding of AML, BSA, OFAC, and global KYC standards.
Proven track record interfacing with regulators, law enforcement, or auditors.
CAMS or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
Exceptional communication skills with an ability to simplify complex regulations.
Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred due to LATAM operations.
