Role Summary

We are hiring a candidate for the Market Risk Team to maintain and run the market risk function for a crypto exchange operating in India.

The role owns risk measurement and quantification (VaR, stress testing), liquidation and margin risk monitoring, liquidity and slippage risk analytics, governance, and daily risk actions across spot, derivatives, and treasury exposures.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving environment—build dashboards and controls quickly, then mature them into BAU governance frameworks.

What You’ll Do

1) Risk Measurement & Monitoring (BAU)

Build and maintain:
VaR (1-day / 10-day)
Stress tests and scenario loss metrics
Drawdown and risk-regime indicators
Cover exposures across spot, perps/futures, and funding/basis risk
Monitor volatility spikes, correlation breakdowns, and tail-risk signals
Translate analytics into clear risk posture changes and actions

2) Limits, Risk Appetite & Governance

Define and implement risk limits across:
Notional exposure
Leverage
Concentration
Liquidity and slippage
Funding and basis exposure
Create and maintain:
Risk appetite statements
Breach protocols
Escalation matrix
Decision runbooks

3) Derivatives & Liquidation Risk Controls

Monitor and improve margining and liquidation risk:
Mark vs LTP behavior
Index and mark-price quality
Liquidation waterfall outcomes
Tail-day performance
Design and track early-warning metrics:
Distance-to-liquidation (DTL)
Effective leverage
Margin utilization
Partner with cross-functional teams to implement guardrails:
Risk checks
Throttles
Reduce-only or protective triggers (where required)

4) Liquidity & Slippage Risk

Build liquidity risk views covering:
Order-book depth
Spreads
Impact and slippage
Exit capacity under stress
Maintain stress liquidation cost and time-to-exit estimates across regimes

5) Risk Support (As Applicable)

Quantify and monitor venue constraints and operational frictions
Support exposure monitoring, including stablecoin / INR conversion impacts where relevant

6) Controls, Incidents & Post-Mortems

Drive incident reviews for:
Market dislocations
Liquidation anomalies
Pricing and mark deviations
Maintain and improve:
Control documentation
SOPs
Thresholds and alerts
Ensure learnings translate into permanent control improvements

You’ll Excel If You Have

4–6+ years in market risk, trading risk, treasury risk, or derivatives risk (crypto exchange, broker, prop trading firm, or market maker preferred)
Strong understanding of derivatives mechanics:
Margining
Liquidations
Funding rates
Basis risk
Strong market microstructure intuition:
Order books
Spreads
Mark vs LTP behavior
Manipulation and thin-liquidity risk
Strong risk toolkit:
VaR (historical and parametric)
Stress and scenario testing
Drawdowns and regime awareness
Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills
SQL basics preferred; ability to automate recurring reporting
